Relationships and Money

I was reading an article today about how debt can influence and affect relationships.  In the article, (http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-budgeting/article/110604/how-debt-can-destroy-a-budding-relationship), a woman’s fiancé called off their engagement when she disclosed that she had more than $170,000 in debt.  This got me thinking about how important it is for couples to get on the same page with their finances right from the start.  We hear all the time that money is the main reason for divorce.  I am not sure if that is true, or if it is more a reflection of the underlying issues in the relationship, but I do know that if we don’t talk to our partners about finances, it can lead to a whole lot of nights where one of you is sleeping on the couch (sorry husbands, but this is probably going to be you).

Sounds like the finance saw that associating himself with that much debt would have been the beginning of the end anyway.
